We are thrilled to announce that the Ocean City Development Corporation (OCDC) has been awarded a record breaking $300,000 grant from DHCD’s Project Restore 2.0! This grant will breathe new life into the vacant property at 102 Worcester Street, once home to iconic spots like Duffy’s Love Shack and Worcester Street Brewing Co.

Here’s what’s in store:

  • New roof, windows, and doors
  • Fresh siding and exterior trim
  • Updated HVAC, plumbing and electrical
  • Repaired floors and new drywall on the first floor

OCDC Executive Director, Zach Bankert, shared, “This project is a positive step in the right direction and could not have been completed without the funding from DHCD and Project Restore 2.0.”

We are eager to enhance pedestrian traffic between the bustling Boardwalk and the bayside district, making Downtown a walkable community.

Work will begin soon with a goal to welcome a new commercial tenant for the first floor by the 2025 summer season. Future plans include renovating the second floor to provide much-needed workforce housing.

Stay tuned for updates!

Ground Breaking for OCPD Downtown Substation

News Added: 07-13-2024
Monday, July 21, 2024— Groundbreaking of the new OCPD Downtown Substation! Mayor Rick Meehan, OCDC Board President Joe Wilson, and Chief of Police Ross Buzzero highlighted the significant benefits this facility will bring, enhancing our ability to serve the community with greater accessibility and efficiency.
Located at the southwest corner of S. Baltimore Avenue and Somerset Street, the substation will feature offices, meeting rooms, a public-facing lobby, a bicycle repair garage, staff parking and housing for municipal employees. This prime location ensures that our police services are more accessible to the community, improving safety and support for everyone. The building is expected to be completed in Summer 2025.
A special thank you to OCDC board member Kevin Gibbs for initiating this project, the Town of Ocean City – Government, our OCDC board, City Council, OCPD, Gillis Gilkerson, and Becker Morgan Group, Inc. for their vision, support and dedication to making it possible.
